A 93rd minute equaliser for Yeovil meant Dover only gained a point for a promising performance against one of the early season pace-setters.
Dover very nearly took the lead after just 30 seconds when Simon Wormull created an opening that Brown and Hynes both failed to convert.
Yeovil were not showing the form that had taken them to the top of the Conference a fortnight ago, but they came back into the match with two opportunities created by Lee Archer. His first cross was met by the head of Jason Eaton but Wormull was on the line to keep it out. Archer delivered another good cross, this time Matt Hayfield headed narrowly wide of the far post.
Simon Wormull was again in excellent form, and he created an great chance for his midfield colleague, Dave Clarke, before the break, but Clarke wasted the opportunity.
In the second period, Dover's speed on the break often troubled the Yeovil defence and Lee Archer had to clear off the line to deny Mark Hynes' 58th minute effort.
In the 70th minute, Yeovil's Terry Skiverton wasted the best chance so far. With the Dover players preoccupied with their offside appeals, he had time to control the ball and pick his spot, but he rushed his effort from six yards and blazed over the bar. Six minutes later, Skiverton was involved again, this time clearing off the line from the ever-dangerous Wormull.
With six minutes of the match remaining Dover looked to have secured all three points when Hynes got clear on the right and found Steve Brown with a neat pass. The former Macclesfield man's effort flicked the boot of the advancing Tony Pennock in the Yeovil goal and flew into the top corner. It was Brown's first goal since joining the Whites earlier in the season.
Yeovil threw every thing at Dover in a desperate attempt to salvage a point. Skiverton shot over the bar from close range for the second time in the match and Paul Hyde saved Foster's low drive. In the dying moments of the match, Rob Cousins picked up the ball on the right touchline and floated over a cross which was met by the diving header of Adrian Foster. Hyde had no chance of stopping it and Yeovil were level.
Dover could have taken all three points from this encounter and it wouldn't have been undeserved, but for the fifth time this season Athletic failed to win after taking the lead.
