Dover finally gave their loyal travelling supporters something to cheer when they secured their first point away from home since April 24. But had it not been for some brilliant goalkeeping by Scarborough's Andy Woods and a late equaliser from Andrew Windross, the Whites would have taken all three points from this vital survival scrap.

With Chris Allen and Chris Dorrian having recovered from injury and illness respectively, manager Gary Bellamy was able to field his preferred line-up, the XI that beat Northwich last Saturday.

The visitors stunned their hosts in only the second minute when Keith Scott put Athletic 1-0 up with his ninth goal of the season. Wilford's slip allowed Scott to find the back of the net from 10 yards for only the third goal Dover have scored away from home this season.

Dover looked good value for their lead and Scott, Allen and Davies threatened to increase the margin. Allen only lasted 35 minutes before having to be substituted due to injury. He was replaced by Tommy Tyne. Scarborough's first reak attempt came in the 28th minute from Steve Brodie.

After the interval the Whites twice came close to doubling their lead. Leberl and Carruthers both forced fine saves from Woods in the space of a minute.

Scarborough eventually came into the match and had a number of chances before they eventually equalised. wilford's header was cleared off the line then minutes later Stoker cleared the bar after being set up by Blunt. Elliott and Pounder also went close but it was Swales' long throw that opened up the Dover defence, flicked on by Wilford and converted from six yards by Windross.

Scarborough could have snatched a scarcely deserved victory deep into stoppage time but Pounder's volley was brilliantly saved by Smith in the Dover goal.
