After three months without a win, Dover earned their second victory in the space of four days, thanks to a late winner from substitute Steve Brown at Morecambe. Brown lobbed Mark Smith, with just two minutes left on the clock, to ensure that Dover would return from the longest away trip in the Conference with all three points.
However, before Brown had stolen the points for Athletic, Morecambe looked the most likely victors. Hyde was forced to make saves from Rigoglioso and Stringfellow shortly before Brown struck.
The first half of the game had been uninspiring but Okafor and Carruthers each wasted two chances to put the Whites ahed.
The second half however proved much more entertaining and Joff Vansittart opened the scoring in the first minute after the restart. McKearney's misjudged backpass was pounced on by Okafor who crossed for Vansittart to convert from close range.
Dover's lead lasted only five minutes before Rigoglioso cancelled out the advantage on 51 minutes.
Both sides were reduced to 10 men after a confrontation between Morecambe substitute Mark Quayle, who had been on the pitch just 5 minutes, and Dover's Jake Leberl, who had already been booked.
Both goalkeepers had to make fine saves to keep the scores level as the game drifted towards a draw. Hyde tipped Fensome's 30-yard effort over the bar, and at the other end Smith denied Shearer. The Morecambe keeper was however unable to prevent Brown's late winner and Morecambe were left with nothing to show for their afternoon's work.
